So what is the Importance of Drinking Water?
The short answer is:
By drinking enough water you maintain a good health and don’t need drugs to keep you pain free, or to temporarily fix a body’s malfunction.
For the long answer we have to look first inside our body…
Amount of water in the human body
Imagine your body as a container. If you were to take all of the water in your body and store it together, the water level would be at your shoulders!
That’s right – almost 75% of the human body is water!
- Blood is 83% water
- Muscles are 75% water
- The brain is 95% water
- Lungs are 90% water
Does this tell you anything?
At first, that might seem like a lot of water, but the truth is, we’re made up this way for a reason. Have you ever wondered why we can survive many days without eating, but we can’t survive without drinking water?
Importance of drinking water
Let’s go deeper and understand why water is so important for all living organisms:
Cells make up your entire body which is a huge electrical based machine.
Each of these cells is filled with a water solution made up of a variety of elements: proteins, amino acids, fats, minerals and micro-elements.All of the reactions that enable us to stay alive are electric in nature, and happen in water, in the process of electrolysis.
Electrolytes are minerals, like potassium, sodium, chloride, and magnesium. Our body needs these minerals to perform its basic functions. We cannot survive without them.Through electrolysis, a cell and the rest of the body exchange elements.
When everything is normal and working properly, the minerals and micro-elements travel to the nucleus (via the cell membrane) by electro-osmosis.
In the case of dehydration the electrolysis cannot occur. The result: the water and minerals go out, the cells dry, and eventually die.
The importance of drinking water for health appears to be very clear: our cells must be hydrated to stay alive and keep us alive and in good health.
* Please note that sodium and chloride are among the main elements our body needs, and this is actually the salt. In his books, Dr. Batmanghelidj mentions the fact that we not only need water, but we need salt and water
Water vs drugs
When it was revealed, Dr. Batmanghelidj’s research into the importance of drinking water was considered “an entirely new paradigm for the cause and prevention of many degenerative diseases!”
We have always looked to drugs to resolve health concerns, but most of us just don’t realize that pain, and many other medical problems, are signals from the body telling us we are thirsty – they are actually symptoms of dehydration.
The doctor explains that using drugs is just a temporary solution of treating the symptoms, not the cause of a health problem. Here is a nice analogy he makes to get you understand better the importance of hydration:
Water for biological organisms is as essential as fuel is for motor vehicles. Taking painkillers is like covering the fuel indicator on your car to test how far you can drive without stopping for gas.
By reading Dr. Batmanghelidj’s books, you will see how important is the act of drinking water in every aspect of your health.
“You are Not Sick” – he says – “You’re Thirsty!”
